Ordering Indian food for the first time can feel like staring at a wall of unfamiliar names. Twelve mains, four breads, five starters, three drinks — where do you start? Indian food pairings in Kastrup follow a few simple rules, and once you know them, every order at Inder'n becomes balanced, generous, and built for sharing. This is how we'd do it ourselves.
Inder'n is open daily 16:00–20:30 at Sirgræsvej 4, 2770 Kastrup. Below is the same playbook we explain to customers who call +45 50 29 13 71 asking what to order.
The three-layer rule
Every good Indian meal has three layers. Skip one and the meal feels off. Stack all three and you have something memorable.
- The starch. Basmati rice or naan. This is the canvas — the thing that carries flavour from the curry to your mouth.
- The main. One creamy or rich dish (butter chicken, butter lamb, shahi paneer) plus, ideally, one drier or sharper dish (chana masala, palak paneer, lamb rogan josh).
- The contrast. Something crunchy or cool — a samosa, a pakora, or a mango lassi. This breaks up the richness and resets the palate.
Two people need at least one item from each layer. Four people need at least two. Six people should have a full spread with two starters.
Best pairings for each main dish
Some dishes are creamy, some are tangy, some are slow-cooked and deep. Mix categories and you avoid the trap of three creamy dishes that all blur together on the plate.
Butter Chicken
The bestseller. A creamy, lightly sweet tomato gravy with tandoori chicken. Pair it with garlic naan (the sauce is built for scooping) and a sharper vegetarian side like chana masala or palak paneer. Avoid pairing it with another creamy dish like shahi paneer — too much overlap.
Lamb Rogan Josh
A Kashmiri classic. Slow-cooked lamb in a rich, aromatic gravy with whole spices. Pair it with basmati rice rather than naan — the rice lets the spices breathe. A side of daal makhani works because both dishes are slow-cooked and share that same deep, comforting profile.
Palak Paneer
Spinach with fresh paneer cheese. The flavour is herbaceous and earthy, so pair it with something with brightness — a tomato-based chicken tikka masala or the lemony tang of chana masala. Plain naan or basmati rice keeps the focus on the spinach.
Shahi Paneer
The vegetarian answer to butter chicken — paneer in a creamy, mildly sweet cashew gravy. Pair it with garlic naan and a sharper main like lamb rogan josh or chana masala. Two creamy dishes side by side is the most common ordering mistake we see.
Daal Makhani
Black lentils slow-cooked overnight with butter and cream. It's a side as much as a main. Pair it with anything tandoor-cooked or grilled, and always with naan — daal and naan is the default Punjabi weeknight dinner for a reason.
Sides that make the meal
Starters are not optional if you want the meal to feel like a feast. A two-person order without a starter is just two curries. Add one shared appetizer and the whole table changes shape.
- Samosa. Crispy pastry stuffed with spiced potato. A safe crowd-pleaser. Two samosas are enough for 2–3 people; double it for four.
- Pakora. Battered and fried vegetables. Lighter than samosa, with a sharper kick. Good for guests who don't want anything too heavy before the mains arrive.
- Garlic naan. Technically a bread, but a torn-up garlic naan on the table while you decide what to eat first is its own kind of starter.

Drinks and what to finish with
The drink isn't an afterthought — it changes how the food tastes. Mango lassi is the classic pairing for anything spicy because the yogurt cools the heat without dulling the flavour. We recommend one mango lassi per spice-sensitive guest at the table. For a lighter meal, a cold soda also works, but the lassi is the move.
If the meal has been heavy on cream and butter, finish with something sharp — a fresh mango lassi or even just water with lime. Indian dessert isn't on the takeaway menu at Inder'n, but a generous starter and a balanced main usually leave the table comfortably full anyway.
Order sizes — how much food for 2, 4 or 6 people
This is the question we get most often when people call us in Kastrup, Tårnby and Amager.
- For 2 people: 1 chicken or lamb main, 1 vegetarian main, 1 basmati rice, 2 naan, 1 starter to share. Optional: 2 mango lassi.
- For 4 people: 2 meat mains, 1–2 vegetarian mains, 2 basmati rice, 4 naan, 2 starters to share. Mix one creamy and one drier main on each side.
- For 6 people: 3 meat mains, 2 vegetarian mains, 3 basmati rice, 6 naan, 2–3 starters. Add daal makhani as a shared side — it stretches the rest of the meal.
For groups of 8 or more, contact us about catering — we put together set menus that scale better than scaling up a takeaway order.

Frequently asked questions
How much Indian food should I order per person in Kastrup?
Plan for one main dish, half a portion of rice and one piece of naan per person. For two people, order one chicken main, one vegetarian dish, basmati rice and two naan. For four people, double the mains and add a starter like samosa or pakora to share.
What goes well with butter chicken at Inder'n?
Butter chicken pairs best with garlic naan to scoop up the creamy tomato sauce and basmati rice to balance the richness. Add a sharper vegetarian dish like chana masala or palak paneer to round out the meal.
Do I need to order rice and naan with my curry?
We recommend it. Indian curries are designed to be eaten with a starch — rice absorbs sauce, naan scoops it. Ordering only the curry leaves most of the meal on the plate. One naan per person plus a shared portion of basmati rice is the classic Punjabi pattern.
